Menu Configuration - Settings

This module contains settings of parameters responsible for the operation of DBPLUS Performance Monitor application monitoring. The configuration is divided into the following areas:

Settings

The screen contains sets of parameters controlling monitoring of DBPLUS application. The user has the ability to change parameters at the level of all monitored instances Global settings, as well as at the level of a dedicated instance Instance settings. Some parameters are only available at the global level (e.g. repository size management). Parameters are divided into the following sets:

Monitoring data is stored in the DBPLUS repository. Monitoring information from all instances is collected in one place, indicated at the configuration stage by the System Administrator.

Monitoring of instance performance is divided into several threads depending on the monitored area of the instance. The main thread responsible for monitoring queries is performed with a frequency of every 15 minutes. This means that every 15 minutes we check query performance and record this information in the repository. Detailed data (that is, among other things, statistics checked every 15 minutes), are stored in the repository database for a default period of 30 days. After this period, the detailed data is aggregated to daily data. After this period, the detailed data is deleted from the repository. Daily statistics are never deleted and are kept for the entire monitoring period.

On the screen, we have the ability to control the duration of detail data storage depending on the monitored area in the repository. After changing the value of a parameter, save the changes by clicking the [Save] button.

Contains additional settings for query monitoring. Especially worth noting is the Minimal query Elapsed Time parameter. The default value of the parameter is set to 0.5 seconds. This parameter defines when a given query is saved to the repository. Query statistics are saved to the repository when the total time of all runs of a given query exceeds the time set for this parameter.

Contains settings for the session monitoring thread and locks in the monitored instance.
