Menu Performance - Show Plan Objects

The module shows the objects involved in the analyzed query. Analyzing the query plan and verifying the indexes used is an essential tool for optimizing query performance. The screen can be accessed from anywhere in the application from the query plan.

The screen presents the text and the query plan. In addition, the following sections are visible:

• OBJECTS USED IN EXPLAIN PLAN - the list of objects used by the query in the given execution plan
• INDEXES FOR SELECTED OBJECT - list of indexes for the selected table - the row selected in “Objects Used in Explain Plan”

Selecting an object (index or table) allows you to present:

• a list of Object columns together with the most important data such as column name, data type, or density - the lower the value, the higher the selectivity of a column
• Info - a DDL instruction that creates a given object
• Properties - additional properties of the selected object

Important

When analyzing the performance plan, pay special attention to:

• The data selection constraint, i.e. the conditions on the data at the where clause and at table joins.
• Whether the query is with parameters or literals
• What operation the database optimizer has chosen to retrieve the data.
• Whether there are appropriate indexes on the table
